What does surge protection cost in Valencia?
From €240 for a Type 2 SPD installed in your panel, quoted in writing before work starts. If the earth measurement asks for electrode work, that is priced separately with the target resistance stated and verified afterwards.
Do I need an SPD if lightning is rare here?
Most surges arrive from the grid itself — switching events and faults several streets away — rather than from the sky. Each one ages the electronics a little, and the module absorbs them without telling you.
What is earthing actually doing?
It gives fault current a fast, low-resistance route so protection trips at once and exposed metal never bites. Without a healthy earth, a differential protects you on paper only.
How do you know whether my earth is good?
We measure it. Earth resistance is a number, and Valencia's dry soils produce some unflattering ones. Below target it passes; above it, we improve the electrode and measure again.
Will this protect the solar inverter and the heat pump?
Those are exactly the four-figure boards an SPD earns its keep on. Panel-level protection plus a finer stage near sensitive equipment covers both, and the values go in your written record.
